In a nutshell: Nick Harte has been beavering away in Christchurch, New Zealand on the legendary Flying Nun label as Shocking Pinks. Now DFA are condensing his two 2005 records into one self-titled album, as introduction to a man seeped in the classic NZ indie of the ‘80s. Unlike The Chills etc, Harte has an ear for leftfield auteurs like Arthur Russell and MBV, making Shocking Pinks an entrancing mix of the sublime and the unexpected.

Imagine if you will: South Seas sing-songs with an eye on North Atlantic grooves.
