In a nutshell: A contract songwriter, Sam Frank conceived of The Hour as a rebellion against being told that he needed to stay in one musical genre, and come to terms with ever shortening attention spans, in order to be successful. A concept album (guess how long it lasts) that crashes through more microgenres (from punk to braindance to ambient etc) in its 29 tracks than most would in a career, The Hour is breathtaking in its ambition and execution.
Imagine if you will: A long walk through a studio complex with one guide and a million ideas.
