In a nutshell: The Dallas Hallelujah chorus, aka The Polyphonic Spree, have put away their minister’s robes and adopted a militarist look, somewhere between Fahrenheit 451 and The Tribe. But the sound remains the same as that which ripped through discerning Britain in the early noughties – evangelical rapture, sweeping melodies and songs which sound like they were conceived in conversation with God before gestating in an alternative commune and marinating in mescaline.

Imagine if you will: Songs conceived in conversation with God, before gestating… oh, you already read that bit.

Verdict: New label, new look, same resoundingly brilliant idea.
