In a nutshell: After her incredible Jools-toriches story in 2005-06, the once obscure Scottish singer-songwriter now has a trophy cabinet (Brit Award, Ivor Novello Award, Q Best Track) resembling Liverpool in their heyday. More urgently she also has a stash of new songs ready to pick up where Eye To The Telescope left off. Produced again by Steve Osbourne, it’s full of powerful lyrics and bold colourful melodies, but underpinned by a rawer musical backdrop.
