In a nutshell: As a teenager growing up in Sydney Josh Pyke soaked up the novels of Steinbeck, Bellow, Jack London and Australian Tim Winton - “books where
nothing seems to happen at all, and yet you’re completely engaged…”. As an adult he’s applying that to song, writing intensely personal tales full of delicious observation. His solo debut follows on from 2005’s mini-
LP Feeding The Wolves and already has his fellow Ozzers swinging their cork hats in ecstasy (they do that, you know…).

Imagine if you will: Peering sideways through the songwriterly genius of XTC into the crystal waters of Sydney Harbour.

Sorry, no samples available at this time Now hear this: Middle Of The Hill – Riveting childhood biography.
Verdict: Step aside Finn brothers – Australia’s most talented singer-songwriter is a young beardie with an incredible songbook.
