  A TRIBUTE TO FATS DOMINO

FATS DOMINO

In a nutshell: When Katrina drowned New Orleans some people were torn between crying for the city and mourning Fats, who was missing presumed dead. Fats survived better than the city, but his home in the Lower 9th was destroyed. This 2CD set of Fats covers (featuring Lennon, Dr John, Neil Young, Randy Newman, Elton) raises some much-needed funds to rebuild it and buy new instruments for local children.

Imagine if you will: Thirty of Fats’ grandkids all doing a turn at the great man’s party.

Verdict: Thrilling tribute to the king of America’s most musical city.
