In a nutshell: Aqualung is a family affair, with main man Matt Hales taking the weight, and both wife and brother pitching in on production, playing and writing. As a result, this new album is a dizzying array of sounds. Lead ‘Lung Matt has the perfect vocal accoutrement, twisting between feigned vulnerability and cerebral distance. He loves to bare his naked self, be it literally (cold shower, Jordan – ed) or metaphorically – this fine album reflects this perfectly.
